Effects update

Recap:

The effects that I did for this project is:

1- Exhaust Smoke
2- Tyres Smoke( becomes sound eff
3- Walking Smoke
4- Fog

Exhaust Smoke, Initially I did my exhaust in Houdini, but due to the lack of time in rendering out the mosaic for it and the watermark issue, I decided to scrap it.

However, below are still some screenshots of the exhaust smoke:

I just emitted particles from a plane inside the exhaust and converted the particles into sprites, that's roughly about it.

The render looks awful, a lot more work needs to be done.

Soon after I realised that finding stock footage would be so much more easier:

This was the stock footage that I used:

I repositioned it in After Effects and rendered it out.

I then brought it inside Houdini and converted it into a mosaic.

The mosaic was therefore added into the game, the effect is seen at the back of the humvee.

2: Tyres Smoke:

Originally I had a stock footage for it, but in the end I scrapped it as it wasn't really working out well.

I decided to replace it with sound effects for the game, I guess its still considered an effect?

I just added sound to the audio listener tab inside Unity's camera.

3: Walking Smoke:

I added the smoke effect for the zombies, but the effect inside the game is near invisible. So I decided to drop it.

The look is almost the same as the Tyres Smoke.

The mosaic:

4: Fog:

As usual I did my fog with stock footage,

First version,

When I put it inside Unity, it looked like just a grey plane, as a result I decided to scrape it as it doesn't look like fog at all.

The mosaic:

I replaced it with a stock footage for the fog, look forward to it!!

That's roughly what I have done for this effects for games module assignment 2, AWESOME CLASS!!

Lesson 09

Today, Mr Ron taught us how to spawn rings onto a custom-made curve.

However, I had a problem,

The curve I drew in maya does not convert into a mesh object.

Hence when I tried to reference in the curve mesh using the mesh2Point script that was created,
It couldnt be found.

Mr Ron suggested to me that it could be because the geometry is also "broken" when it was created in Maya, however my Houdini wasnt working on my computer.

He also went ahead with teaching us how to create a waterfall effect by animating the texture,

Assign 1 Progress

With regards to assignment 1, I was tasked to do some modelling for the venue of the game.
I was asked to model a sound stage, which has like a drum set on top of it. I modelled it after much difficulty and below is how it looked,

Drum Set:

I also did the building layouts of the environment.

I too textured the humvee,

I also textured the drum set and modelled and textured the signboard.
